Kylie Hutchinson, CE
Kylie Hutchinson, principal consultant with Community Solutions, combines her formal education and expertise in program evaluation with over twenty years' experience working in both the not-for-profit and public sectors as a consultant, trainer, staff person, board member, and volunteer. Kylie has conducted dozens of evaluations varying in scope and complexity that have yielded timely, relevant, and user-friendly recommendations for her clients.
Kylie has a strong background in training, facilitation, population health, and working with diverse stakeholder populations. She is well known for her popular workshops (see Praise). She has delivered the Canadian Evaluation Society's Essential Skills Series over a dozen times in BC. In addition, she offers custom workshops on sustainability planning, a critical area of interest for program managers and funders concerned with the sustainability of their programs and granting decisions. She is also on the faculty of the Justice Institute of BC's Instructor Development Program where she teaches courses in training assessment and evaluation and conducting needs assessments.
Another area of interest is collaboration and partnerships. She has published the guidebook, “Getting it Together: Collaboration Models for Community Groups”, which has received attention from organizations around North America.
Prior to founding Community Solutions, Kylie managed an employment-training program for the Immigrant Services Society of BC, worked as Development Manager for the Evergreen Foundation, and conducted research for the Institute for Risk Research, Health Canada Bureau of Communicable Disease Epidemiology, and the Metropolitan Toronto District Health Council.
Kylie is a member of the Canadian Evaluation Society and adheres to the CES Guidelines for Ethical Conduct and Program Evaluation Standards. In 2011 she received her Credentialed Evaluator designation from the Canadian Evaluation Society which means she has provided evidence of the education and experience required to be a competent evaluator. In 1990 she also received an award from the Canadian Evaluation Society for an evaluation framework she developed for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario. She is a regular pre-conference workshop presenter for the American Evaluation Association's annual conference and Summer Evaluation Institute and tweets her insights weekly at @EvaluationMaven.
